A
versatile artist, Ellen Troncone Esposito has mastered painting in a
number of mediums - oils watercolors and pastels. The essence of a
still life, the likeness and personality of the model and capturing the
changing light and atmosphere of nature are equally exhilarating for
the artist. Balancing of light, color and form, to create a mood is the
challenge well met by the artist.
Such inspiration, diversity and
skill are not unforeseen in light of Ellen's educational background and
training. Having begun to paint at age eleven, she went to earn a
Technical Art Diploma from High School and a Bachelor of Fine Arts
Degree from Pratt. Later, she continued to develop her talent at The
Brooklyn Museum Art School. She also studied with Coulton Waugh,
Franklin Alexander, and Michael Aviano, and attended many workshops
with several accomplished artists. Ellen in turn nurtures the
talent of others who are under her tutelage. Today, she maintains a tight schedule of
teaching and painting commissioned portraits; still finding time to
give watercolor demonstrations and to judge art exhibits.
Ellen has had numerous one-person shows. Her paintings have been
accepted in many regional and national juried shows. Her memberships
include the American Society of Portrait Artists, New York Portrait
Society, Hudson Valley Art Association, Kent Art Association, Northeast
Watercolor Society and The Salmagundi Club. She has received many
awards including the Grumbacher Gold Medallion Award. Additionally she
is listed in the International Directory of Distinguished Leadership.
Ellen's paintings hang in many private and public collections including
